A commission starts with a conversation.
Maybe you've been looking for a piece that doesn't exist yet. Maybe you need a collection created specifically for a space. Maybe there's a story, object, place or ritual you'd like translated into clay.

From Idea to Object
01 Tell me what you're imagining

Submit a commission inquiry with whatever you already know; what you'd like made, quantity, dimensions, timeline, budget, and the story or purpose behind it.
02 We figure out the possibilities
​
I'll review the request and determine whether the project is a good fit for my practice, studio capabilities, timeline and current workload.
03 Develop the work
​
For appropriate projects, we'll discuss form, surface, materials, quantity, and other details before production begins.
04 I make it
​
Your pieces are made by hand in my San Pedro studio. Variation is part of the process. No two handmade pieces will ever be exactly alike.
05 Your work makes its way home
​
Once finished, pieces are prepared for pickup or shipping, depending on the project.
Your commission will not look factory made
Handmade ceramics carry evidence of the person who made them.

There may be variations in shape, glaze, texture, color or surface. That's not a flaw in the process. It's part of what makes the work yours.

For larger collections, I'll establish the overall direction and consistency while allowing the individual pieces to retain their handmade character.
FAQs
Do I need to know exactly what I want?

No. You should have an idea what you are looking for, but the initial inquiry is conversation, not a finished design brief.
Can you recreate something I've seen?

Possibly, depending on the request. Handmade work is not an exact reproduction process and I may suggest an interpretation rather than a direct copy.
Can I commission multiple pieces?

Yes. Small collections and larger batch projects can be discussed based on scope and timeline.
Do you work with restaurants or designers?
​​
Yes. Hospitality, interiors, and other larger scale projects can be discussed through commission inquiry process.
How far in advance should I inquire?
​​
As early as possible, particularly for larger collections or projects tied to a specific opening, event or deadline.
